new work

BUSY MAKING WORK FOR ART ON THE PROM. LOTS TO DO! SOME NEW MIXED MEDIA TEXTILE PEICES READY TO BE FRAMED. CREATED SOME RINGS FOR THE FIRST TIME USING WIRE WRAPPING. IT'S VERY HOT AT THE MOMENT AND THE STUDIO'S A BIT AIRLESS - SO HEAVY GOING! FEELING EXCITED ABOUT THE DAY THOUGH! I'VE MADE SOME NEW SCARVES USING AN EMBELLISHER I'VE BORROWED - NOW VERY KEEN TO OWN ONE! BETTER START SAVING!

My little studio is now up and running at the end of the garden! It's so good to be able to leave work out and have permenant space to create. Summer has been good so far with lots of beach days providing inspiration for paintings. I'm interested in weathered surfaces and things that drift in from the sea suggesting a sense of memory and time. Cracked paint fishing boats, weathered surfaces on brightly painted houses, net entwined with seaweed, aged and pitted pebbles, painted signs eroded by the elements. These are a few works in progress. They are mixed media, oil, acrylic, ink. They include painting and printing processes and are built up in layers over a period of time.
